Porsche Crest Carrera GTS vs 911S w/930 motor

I would like to share my experience we you all, Of old tech vs New tech.

Every Saturday morning I go to Katies Cars and Cafe ,lots of cool exotics, A freind of mine just bought A new Carrera GTS A very nice water cooled car, I think it has some like 400 hp, my friend and I left the cars cafe and head to the hwy, we were just driving side by side , I called him on his cell and lets see what your car can do , I was cruzen in 5th gear at 3000 rpm's at 70mph, he's in 6th , I expected him to pull away , to my suprise I pulled away by a long ways, Hmmm, So He called me , that he wanted to try it again but in 5th gear , so again 70 mph me in 5th and him in 5th gear , we both punch it and My old 1976 911S CIS 3.3 turbo left him in the dust about 10 plus car lengths in about 5 seconds,Old vs New tech, sure he has sat nav and climate control and better gas mileage , But I rather have the pull away power,
.

Nice lookin car. Congrats on the GTS kill too, although, I think he'd take you off the line.

As a rolling start, a highly modified 930 would kill a naturally aspirated 911 any time

I don't know if the GTS would even beat him off the line, did you see the drag race post? Low 12's would be tough to pull off in a N/A Porsche

930's kick positive ass. You give up all the pleasantries and comforts in trade for rough riding, noisey and raw power delivery, truck-like steering and shifting, but one thing for sure is that there isn't a moment when you're not fully aware that you're behind the wheel of a high performance sports car. That's 9/10th's of the love affair we have with our 930's. Unless you're into creature comforts and can afford them, nothing can match what we have.

Edmunds inside magazine tests say the GTS 0-60 does it 4.0 and 1/4 mile 12.4 at 112.5 mph , and that with launch control and PDK trans, Just this Sunday I went to the drag strip and turned a 12.3 at 118mph and I was off my best time by 3 tenths , my G Tech puts me at 0-60 at 4.0 sec also , I'm sure I could take A GTS off the line too, with out that fancy tech stuff, the G50 box shifts pretty smooth,

Interesting..
GTS--Is as fast GT3.1 around the ring and close to 997.2 GT3..

5TH GEAR..I would think trying 3rd gear---60-130mph--if u could...That is the real test..INMOP.

U-HAVE A FAST CAR!!

The funny thing is a 4sp 930 could do the 60-130 in 3rd gear. No shift needed

With stock 16 inch tires 60mph in third is about 3000rpm. 130mph is about 6600rpm.
