930 floating rotors

Is it normal for the brakes on a 78 930 to squeal like crazy sometimes due to the floating rotors? Is there a way around this? Change to a fixed hat rotor?

Thanks,

John

Change the pads...

Floating Rotors shouldn't necissarily 'squeal' more than fixed rotors. They can rattle or sound like something is loose when you spin the wheel.

Probably pads and/or brake dust on the pads. If you change your pads you should put some brake grease on the pistons behind the new pads.

You can also buy anti-squeal inserts but I have never used them so cannot comment on them.

I have the 930 rotors, they rattle considerably but no squeaking. I have Mintex pads....

Went on a drive today and that's what a friend on the drive said to check to see if they are possibly racing pads.

I've used "cool carbon" pads on my tracked bmw, they worked well and held up. What works well on the Porsche's that are street friendly. I would normally go with Hawk. I think another is Pagid. Are they all pretty comparable at the street/track combo level?
