3.2L at 0.5Bar Boost
I finally sized a turbo for a 7psi, 3.2L '89, but need some expert adivce. I was looking for low end torque street use with boost in by 3000rpm.
Looks like a Garrett GT3071R with 60mm turbine and 71mm comp. wheel. This is a bit smaller than K27-7200 but I only need 7psi anyway. What A/R to use? options are 1.06, 0.82, and 0.63. I'm leaning toward 0.63 but wondering if that's too small? 0.82 may be too laggy for street use? Any advice? |

0.82 is perfect! 0.63 is too small and will choke the motor.

FWIW, I'm running a Precision turbo on my 3.2 with .60 compressor housing and .63 AR Turbine housing. Car flat out screams from 2800 to redline. It seems like it's sized about right for 7.5 lbs of boost.

^ i can attest to that as well. I run a T3/T4 .63 a/r and i have the exact same results as above. Pulls all the way to redline.

Yes 0.63 will spool faster but limit top end power due to back pressure... Its typically used on smaller 4cyl motors, not 3.2L+ Porsche motors... Unless its used in a TT setup
![]() A Gt3071R with 0.82 will spool just as quick and not limit top end, or future growth potential. Last edited by 911TT33; 12-22-2011 at 08:48 PM.. |
