930 dashboard

Hello everyone, I am new member from Finland. Thought I had owned my last Porsche when I sold few months ago a Dp 935 back to Germany which was owned by me for last 9 years, but... I figured quickly out I need a new project so I started looking in US and decided to buy a 1985 930 from a gentleman in California, the car was actually for sale here in Pelican Parts a while ago. The car need some job for sure, I am aiming for fully restoration of it. My very first question is about differences in dashboard top cover between year model 85 and 86, I need new one, have seen ad for 86 dash but will that fit in car 85? When searching Porsche genuine catalogue it says model change between 1985 and 1986. I am thankfuk for advice!

i have a 1 year old one that is correct for 1985. Not leather though
PM me if interested.
The 1985 has a smaller vent in the front like the earlier ones. It also has 2 "holes" for the defrost vents. The 1986 and later has 1 "hole" for the defrost and a piece of plastic that covers between the defrost vents.

Thank you for information about the dashboard, exactly what I needed to know;)

I was told that it was possible to install a later dashboard in a 85 and earlier car. Actually, the guy (Porsche wrecker) also indicated that the later dashboard can be installed without removing the windshield unlike the earlier car thanks to that piece between the defrost vents. The thing I am not sure about is if there are any modifications that need to be done to fit the larger front air vent.
