Engine mount bar

Evening guys,

Have tried searching but not getting too (m)any hits on this one, only stuff about engine mounts themselves.

Am in the process of EFI'ing my 964 C2T...plus loads of other mods that should see a significant increase in hp.

Whilst ordering a shed load of rebuild stuff from our hosts, I made an impulse decision to add an engine mount bar reinforcement kit to the shopping list....was also kinda talked into it by the guy on the phone, as the stock units aren't known for their strength?

Anyway, ordered it (turns out its the Rennline one), but when it arrived it was for a N/A 964, not the Turbo...no distinction on the item description...annoying as I'm in the UK, not so easy to return.

What are the experiences of the folk here? Is this something I really need to get reinforced? Or is the turbo / 930 item fine? We reckon the bhp should be in the region 450hp once all rebuilt.

One solution being suggested by Pelican is that I buy this item instead ---> Rennline Engine Mount

Have to say, mine's in pretty good condition...would get it re-powder coated, but just adding a few gussets to mine looks a whole lot less hassle and cheaper than buying the above item.

Should also mention that I have a pair of new 964RS motor mounts which will go on, which I'm sure will add stress, being less flexible.

Thoughts?

Cheers
S

Hi xbmwguy,

Great, thanks for the comment....I don't suppose you have any pics of where you welded the gussets, and the size?

Was it similar to that shown in the Rennline link above?

Cheers
Spencer.
