new build and improvements

just wanted to let the boyz know that the silver bullet is on its way to being the silver rocket. i have been collecting parts here and there and finally am doing it. parts will include new full bay i/c,garrett turbo "blowzilla", kep stage 2 pressure plate and clutch, opening up intake and injector blocks to 38mm, and extreme cylinder head work to include porting and polishing, bills oversized intake and exhaust valves,(now can do a proper 3 angle valve job), his springs and titanium retainers, we wanted to flame ring but i might go 3.4 or 3.5 down the road, and lastly i installed one of juices 934 style braces, what a difference between a single strut tower brace. i will have pics of heads mon or tues.i'll keep you postedhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1328190028.jpg

Weeeeee!

I'm sending you a PM about your head work. I have a few questions if you don't mind.

philip j 02-02-2012 06:22 AM

I have pretty much the same build. What are you hoping for HP? I also went 3.4,8:1, twin plug & complete modified/euro CIS fuel system. Going to get it in this weekend, but with the weather here in Canada, I won't get it out for another month at least. I'll be interested to hear more as you progress. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1328195952.jpg

xbmwguy 02-02-2012 08:19 AM

one mjor diff phillip is i am efi and not "limited" to timing, fuel, and boost parameters, but should be in the mid to upper 500s

philip j 02-02-2012 10:03 AM

Very nice! Did you use your pancake manifold? Mine is all set up for EFI, but do not have a local guy that could do the tune, so stayed CIS for now:( I think the head-work may be a little extreme:D for the CIS, but will soon know. Philip

xbmwguy 02-02-2012 12:57 PM

yes i am using it for now as both pat williams and chris from turbokraft say they work up to 600. next year when i do the bottom end and bigger p/c i will switch. what efi are you going to use?

philip j 02-02-2012 01:20 PM

Haven't committed myself to any type yet. I think the determining factor will be where I can get it done, and what system the wrench is familiar with. When planning this build, I had the long-block built in Fla. couldn't find a wrench in this part of Canada who was willing to touch it. Depending on how this build works, I may have to go back to your side of the boarder to upgrade to EFI. Philip

Awesome!! Congrats. Love the silver color.

And that's at the wheels.
Example: 595.3hp @ 6,363rpm, 16.5psi
Flat manifold, 38mm ports.

xbmwguy 02-02-2012 02:50 PM

hey chris thats what i am shooting for but i tell ya bill at extreme cylinder heads said when i was there today that his headwork he is doing now i should see those #s with less boost. we will see

jwasbury 02-02-2012 07:11 PM

Sounds exciting. Good luck with the build. Remember: pics or it didn't happen :)

xbmwguy 02-09-2012 04:58 PM

ok got the heads back from xtreme and they turned out as expected.....unreal! intake valves are now 50.5 and exhaust is 42.5. i used his springs, valves and titanium retainers. should have her tearin up the street by next friday. here is some candyhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1328838785.jpg

Love the look of the 934 style brace.
Can you tell us what change it has made?
Any drama with getting the brace to fit?

Great job. :)

Very nice.

Does the X brace just mount to the front latch panel? What is the cost for just the porting?
Thanks

Thats true. :)

But what has it changed?
How does it feel to the single brace?
More direct in the steering?

Want some feedback before I buy.
Thanks.

The X-brace is secured to the front of the chassis via tabs on each side which are bolted in at stock mounting points.

speednme1 02-09-2012 08:07 PM

Hey Juice, so the X brace is a complete bolt on? Will installation affect alignment?

No welding is needed, it is completely bolt in. The strut tower plates mount at stock points, so will not affect alignment. If you are running extremely agressive camber settings, the plate mounting holes may need to be slotted slightly.

willtel 02-10-2012 05:46 AM

Looking good!

I know you said you are planning to "take it easy" on your stock bottom end. Any idea on what power levels you will see before you decide that is enough?

xbmwguy 02-10-2012 07:16 AM

i will be in upper 500s when build is done next week but hoping that with only running 11.5# of boost til i do bottom to be in the low 5s. next yaer 3.5 pistons and barrels and beefed up bottom end will be it for me

Nah, that was filmed by me while riding shotgun with Frankie BEFORE installation of the x-brace;) (but AFTER one helluva nite:D).

SCHNELE 02-10-2012 03:39 PM

Hello Gang, Frank the heads are beautiful, good luck with the final assembly. I think you may be firing your car up around the same time mine is finished.

xbmwguy 02-10-2012 04:53 PM
