o2 sensor and aftermarket headers
Fitting fabspeed headers, their bung hole is by the turbo, my old one inserted by the bellhousing end. How do most guy get around this?
can I just zip tie it outta the way? Tia c |
Nobody?

Are you refering to the OEM o2 sensor for the lambda system?
|
yes

So you are planning to run without it? If so, you can disconnect it (there is a plug near the engine compartment fuse panel), pull it through the tin and then plug the hole . . .
If not, then I guess I don't understand your question. |
Most people don't use the O2 sensor once they go to aftermarket headers. They set the AFR with a Gunson gas tester, LM1, etc.
Another thing I did was plugged the aftermarket bung and welded in a bung after the turbo. I did this based on the advice of others, but the idea was if any part of the O2 sensor broke free it would go through the turbo destroying it. |
Thanx
Does anybody make an extension kit that would allow it's use? Is there a downside to disconnecting it? Sorry for the questions, I'm from the 997tt world. c |

thanx!
Looks like I can run without it, no cat or air pump anyway. I may just splice the wires and run it in the FS location, post turbo. |
There are extensions to allow you to run it but back it out of the exhaust flow. There are also plans online to fabricate a cheap and easy heat sink from copper or aluminum. Some use the bung to keep the O2 sensor for wideband O2 measurements, etc. I think Innovate might have the parts and plans on their web site.

Thanks to oilonly, I was able to reroute it through another port in the tin, worked like a harm!
