Thr RE11s are readily available, plus bf goodrich has a new pro comp2 ZR tire in all the correct 16" sizes. I think the RE11 is the better tire, but good to finally have options.

At Parade in Salt Lake, I talked to the Bridgestone rep. He told me that they were committed to keeping a street tire in th4e 245/45/16 size. The local Discount tire can't get them, but they are on Tire rack. He also told me that they will be available in an R rating also.

I went to Discount Tire and ordered a matching set of RE-11's. They had no problem whatsoever getting them from the manufacturer in the sizes for my 87'. They just do not carry them off the shelf. you have to ask specifically for them.

Just checked out TireRack.com and phoned them to confirm inventory. They have recently replenished their inventory and have a good stock of the Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 in 245/45ZR16. A month ago they didn't have anything available - only comp tires in that tire size and the local dealership could not find anything for me as well. Woo Hoo.

got new RE 11's from Discount Tire installed today, the old AVS ES100's were 10 years old and dangerous! The new tires were ordered and at the shop in two days. Huge difference in ride.

Thread revival time!
I can't find any street tires in 245/45/16. Lots of R compound, but no street tires.
Anyone have any leads?

There are a couple of street tires, in that size, to choose from on this company's website. I have ordered commercial truck tires from them and was pleased with their service.

I was looking a week ago and Tire Rack had Fuzion's in that size... never heard of them, their parent company is Bridgestone-Firestone. Those were the only street compound I saw in that size. Bridgestones are still making that size I hear, but I didnt anyone with stock.

Their web site is painful. I guess I'll phone them.

They don't have those tires in stock. If you place the order they wait until the very end to tell you.

Great. Hopefully they are still in production and not just old stock at this point.

This link on TireRack (scroll down for recent comments) suggests they are no more. But maybe TR just isn't carrying them anymore.

Take care,

My mistake!
I guess the search function wasn't working (or I wasn't) last week.
Just sent them an email to see if they have these tires and how old they are.
Please stand by ......

Wow, over a year on this thread bump!

Toyo Proxes T1R now on TireRack in 245/45/16.

(Picture from TireRack)

Click pic for link to 245/45 on TireRack.

Unfortunately not currently made in 205/55. They are made in 225/50, however.

I run TOYO T1Rs in 225/50/16 and 245/45/16 on a 930. Matching tread. Both happen to be the same overall height. Pretty good on the road.

I run Toyo R888 on track and short frequent street drives and like them quite a lot. They have proper sizes as well.

I just bought a set of Bridgestone RE-11's in the factory sizes. Took a couple days to get them at Americas Tire. Tread wear is 200 and they have rain grooves- I think that makes them a better choice over the Proxes R888 for street use.

Finally!!!......something we can get with ease and our American cousins struggle with.

Dunlop 9000's no problem, I rang the supplier that does our company cars, gave him the make I wanted and sizes, he rang me back about 2 minutes later telling me I must have given him the wrong sizes as they are only for a Porsche 930 turbo!!
