Question on bumpers
I got my 930 last fall and found that there are no bumpers under the bumper covers. I need to add/fabricate some bumpers now for safety and looking for ideas.
Does anyone have a pic of what the bumper under the front 964 bumper cover should look like? Also thoughts on how to fab. up a bumper for the rear vented cover? Thx. ![]() ![]() |

If this is an aftermarket fiberglass front bumper cover then you will have to fabricate a hard bumper. The stock 964 hard bumper (same piece on the 965) will not fit. Despite what the fiberglass manufactures will tell you the bumper cover molds were not pulled from an original piece than the slope angle of the bumper is not true and will not fit over the stock hard bumper which can be mounted but to do that you will need to fabricate mounting brackets as the 964 mounts are different from the 911Sc.
I ran into this problem from several suppliers of glass each of them telling me their mold was made by them pulled from a stock cover. Not so. Either they steal form each other or one company makes the basic product for all. At one time in the late 90s TRG had pieces truly pulled from a real cover that would fit but they no longer carry these pieces. I finally settled for stock 965 bumper cover that solved the problem. Based on the shipping cost to return couple if glass covers and the one I chopped up attempting to fit, the stock cover was cheap. I remember Performance Parts having a hard bumper consisting of a bent round tube that should work. Maybe you can check with them. Hope this helps. Jim |
