Does your 930 have its original engine & transmission?
How many 930 cars still have their original engines and transmisions? Have you verified them against the build sheet. From what I have seen the numbers do not match the Vin. I feel that this adds tremendous value if they still have the original drivetrain. Any thoughts???

I've seen far more 930's with matching #'s than the 60's and early 70's 911's.

FIIK...never bothered to look. All I know and care about is that the wheels go round and round, which means my LSD transaxle works as intended. 'Tiss a good thing.....

My '87 has '91 or '92 engine but not sure about the transmission (it has different gearing) since I have not bothered to look. I have no idea what happened to the original engine (I assumed it was blown up since this car was heavily modified for a track). I do not have records that go back to the original swap.
I'm sure for a collector it would be a better value to have all matching #'s. I'm not a collector and I want to put miles on my 930 so it don't bother me about non-matching #'s. Bought it when it had around 27k miles. Yes, it was low miles but this car was used primarily for a track.

My engine case was replaced with a brand new factory unstamped turbo case, which can go both ways with valve. Trans is original.

The only 930's with any collector value at this time and probably for the next 15-30 years were made in '75 and '76 and maybe early '77, and they have to be totally stock in perfect condition with low mileage or they're just used up also rans. . . |

Mine has a aftermarket Trans. The engine case is original and matches the COA but
much of the engine insides are changed. Unmolested cars will always be worth more on average than modified cars. Repaints and color change repaints do more harm to a cars value than an engine change and of course body work lowers the value more than most any thing. The pitfall with worrying about the cars value to much is after awhile you do not feel you own the car any more because you are so busy protecting it for some future owner and what they might potentially see as valuable. I fell into this trap with an old Corvette, I let other people tell me what was "wrong" with my car and how to make it "right" Right to who?? was not right for me, and why am I letting other people tell me how to enjoy my car? |

- JFairman, hope you're right. My '77 vin ends in 54. Always was told that showed as the 54th unit built that year. However, no short or long term plans on selling. Will keep in the family as long as possible.

The Pumpkin wears her original engine but not tranny. A 89 G50/50 resides in the place of the original 4 speed.
Rebuilt by Steve Cousins here in KC in 2008, she pulls hard and is as dry as the day he bolted her together. B
