8-pin CDI Capacitor
Does anybody know what the capacitance value of the original charging capacitor in the 8-pin CDI (930 turbo '75 to'77, Bosch 0 227 300 003 ) is?
I measured the cap in my 35 year old unit and found a value of 0,996 µF. The 3 and 6-pin units have a 1,4 µF / 400V cap installed. Either the cap is deteriorated or the 8-pin version had only a 1µF capacitor installed. The car has very few ignition drop-outs at idle which increase at around 2500 RPM.The engine has been completely overhauled, ignition harness and plugs are new and the distributor was also overhauled. The mystery is that it run perfectly at the first start-up after overhaul, then the car was parked for several days and at the next start i have noticed the ignition drop outs. The complete ignition system has been checked again without any findings. (Ignition harness resistance measured, plugs replaced, timing checked, wires from distributor to CDI and power and ground at CDI measured.) There are only to things which left, the CDI unit and the ignition coil. Any ideas? |

The coil for the unit is a Bosch, it is suposed to have a blue dot on it instead of being the 001 Bosch like the later turbos.

If you can put up with him Lorenfb could probably answer your question.
