IMHO - satin rims with black centers integrates better with your silver & black trim. It just looks right. If you're looking for a twist of drama then all black will do it but it just doesn't look balanced to me.

There's a silver 930 like yours around here that has early Fuchs look with polished rims & polished spokes with the black shadow (or whatever it's called) and it is strikingly clean looking.

Surely we all know wheels are HUGE in directing the look of our cars, however, case in point, my black 930 has all blacked out RUFs for the evil streetfighter look. Threw on a set of Fuchs with polished rims & black & polished spokes and it was immediately transformed into a nice non-threatening show car look (yes even with the massive GT2 tail! ;-) Then tried satin rims with all black centers and it looked boringly plain and unassuming in contrast (cried for the stock tail so they could take a nap together in their tiresome boredom). LOL ;-) BTW - please nobody take offense to each his own, right?!?

[QUOTE=smurfbus;6699597]If the frames are black and only rear quarter windows with tint it looks very unbalanced IMO (rear/top heavy). We can't have front windows tinted here so I had to strip those two yrs ago and now I stripped the rear ones (PITA).QUOTE]

I agree with you on this - didn't realize you were talking about tint on only the rear - definetly does not look good that way!

Do you have any links to pics of the setups you have? I also have silver RUFs with R888 tires that I could possibly try to rattle_can to all black as the wheels are a bit beaten already so no harm done.

I also tried polished petals on my lindsey 17in fuchs but did not like it. It could be that the rear quarter tint spoiled that look also.

Vas, I've been following your - let's call it 'renovation' of the car and love what you've done with it. How's the hooligan exhaust?

For what it's worth, I'd go polished rims - I think the all-black is a bit harsh - just my 2 bob.

Where are you getting the new 17" wheels made - I'm in Melbourne and am sick of trying to find 16" tyres, and have really been avoiding going off-shore.

Cheers
DAVID

Thanks Vas. To be honest the original black on silver looks the best IMO.

Keep us updated which way you go.

Ben, will do.

David, thats a great looking car.
We do alot of group runs in the hills around Melbourne.
PM me if you want to come along.
I dont have the hooligan, its the one in between the hooligan and quiet riot.
Its a fantastic system and Brian is a great guy to deal with.
The reduction in lag is well worth the project.

I will have some pics and good info on the wheels in a few days.
You guys in Australia will be happy with what I have found.

I think black centers or rsr finish but polished lip not painted black (yuck). I think the all black look is playing out soon anyway. The origional black centers and polished lip is never going to go away.

Wheels look good! So you wanted most of the "dish" on the inside?

Ronnie, I left that with the builder.
I just want them to fit without any drama.
He has been making these for over 30 years, so all should be well.

Vas
Thanks for the offer of a spin in the hills..........I'll drop a line shortly.
If your wheel man is happy to publish details, I'm sure - given what I read about replica Fuchs supply / availability / lead-time issues from other suppliers - he'd be a busy guy!
As an aside, I recently had my 16" wheels refurbed by Wheel Solutions in Richmond..........they did a great job and weren't expensive. I'll post some photos when it stops raining.
Cheers
DAVID

Cool, David.
The more turbos on our runs the better.
Wheel Solutions are the best, they did my fuchs restoration last year.
How did you get onto Wheel Solutions?
Did you go with the clear coat with dulling agent at 2% ?
Gives that factory silver look on a polished rim.
And so easy to clean.

Ok, picked up the wheels two weeks after order.
I think they look great.
I used a satin black on the centre. (it looks gloss in the pics)
Anyone interested in a set can PM me.
Happy to pass on the details.
