You remember?
Hey
Good to hear from you. Yes, the original muffler was quieter but the kids and boss still complained about the noise at the back... For me it's like music! Loud for loud I decided to put the open muffler back on and keep on driving as if it was stolen. Let me know when you guys go for a drive. Rob |

What....no takers? I've got exactly the same setup from my '87 sitting on the shelf, with the thought that it will increase the resale value of my 930 should I ever decide to return it to stock and sell it (yeah, right, on both accords).
Or, are these things just a dime a dozen?

Rob,
I probably should have started a question thread, but I'm glomming onto yours for the moment. Will this fit a '76? I ask because passing smog here in CA is quite a sport, and perhaps a switch to a muffler/etc that can incorporate a cat might make things easier... And of course, in that case, I'm definitely interested! --krk.

muffler
Hi Krk
I'm not sure it will fit your 76 930, but someone will answer this question eventually. This one has a cat bypass, you may want one with the cat for the California test though. Rob |

I guess as you know the 76 has the thermal exhaust, that is very inefficient. Your muffler should be similar to the 78/79, and if so this would fit, allowing you to run a cat. If you still have the thermal style heat exchangers, and you add the cat, I would upgrade to the 86/87 heat exchanger which should give you a bit better performance, and hopefully the cat will allow you to remove the thermal's, if you have not already. Hope this helps....

KRK I have a 78 930 and I went and got an 87 muffler/cat and thats the ticket to passing smog in calif. nobody knows your not running a cat and the C.O drop 3 % just with the bolt on. then the smpg pump is the only other visual needed. Call Tom and mobile works west,he located in S.J. # is 408-429-0545. I'm in Fremont Myself

Rob, Tim, Berg0658: Thx for the replys!
I'm using a stock euro manfold instead of the thermals. Air pump is operational. Just got thru CA smog, but it was a bit challenging. It sounds to me like I should be following in Berg0658's footsteps. Are these relatively easily sourced as a pair? Or do I try to trick Rob in to shipping his to me (I'm in San Jose) and find a cat to use with it? Thx again! kim.

looks like you just need the 86/87 muffler and cat then. I just sold mine a while back, as I don't have smog inspections here. Should be easy to pick up a set (muffer/cat), I'd just post a WTB in the parts and or 930 section.
