911 vin?
Tried and search about it but didn't find my answer. Maybe partially.
Does the 930 comes with the 930xxxxx VIN number even for a car sold in Canada? Tried a 930 last week. Biggest mistake of my life as I can't stop thinking about it. WOW. The looks alone would be worth it to me... Thanks in advance for your help. |

Found this in someone elses thread but may help to answer your question. Canada would be included in "Rest of World" so depending on the year which is the 4th number, the 5th number in the vin I would assume to be a "7" which would indicate ROW car. I believe they changed the VIN's to the newer standardized numbering in the mid 80's Hope this helps~ J |
Yes it helps a lot. Thank you very much.

I'm not sure a 930 has to have 930 in the vin.
car looks good |
Looks like it has a later model front bumper - fog lights & headlight
washers were different in 1979. |
Are you sure about the Vin not needed?
Called the dealer and theve done a lot of work on it and say it's a real turbo. 4 speed Yes I noticed the carrera style front bumper. Missing the fuchs also. |
I have the VIN
Edit: Wrong VIN from the guy at the tel.????????? |
My 87 is considered a 911 turbo... The 930 VIN designation ended in 1980 when they VIN's went from 10digit to 17digit.
|
ALL 911 Turbos (930) from 1975-1979 started with 930 regardless of destination. MY 1980 USA cars continued this but RoW changed.

That steering wheel is not correct for a 1979, it was introduced in 1985. The 1979 had the three spoke wheel. 1979 also didn't have power seats. It also has the 1984+ front valence and 1980+ headlight squirters. Something is not right with this picture.
|
And later dash, headlight knob, windshield antenna ... I'll bet that's a 1985-1986 930 and they have the wrong VIN. EDIT, just saw the VIN posted above showing it to be a 1978SC.
|
I know the previous change A LOT of things with new paint and body work.
50k in receipts... Never driving a old 911 so tight. No rattles |
I know also that they swap the dash as they have the old black cluster
|
That VIN you posted is for a 1978SC produced between 8/77 and 7/78
|
I knew it as I told them exactly this. They can't even know what there selling.
|
My 82 is a 930 VIN....
Maybe the only thing that got changed on that car was the VIN if you get what I'm saying. |

I guess we will never know.
To much things that are not really clear. |

Either way, were there any pictures of the engine on that car? |
