Transmission Fluid - what is the best?

Yes, I have seen the threads, aside from the conversations, the only thing I read about is Sweepco...

Really? That is not what I had on my 911. It was something else but I cannot recall the name. It was recommended because, it was said that it provided better impact protection for the gears...I never had a problem from that fluid in my 915 tranny.

Now I have a 930, I am having to do maintenance on it. I am looking for something other than the stock sweppco because I will be putting this car on the track.

So what other racing fluids are recommended for this 930/36 with LSD?

I track my 79 930 for the last 5 years and have used Swepco 201 and have had no issues...If anything it might be time to change the fluids it is time to drain and refill. I might switch to 210

I wait to hear others chime in

Hayden from WEVO made the swepco 201 recommendation to me as well. I run a few track days a year and have an LSD. He suggested no additives, either. I trust Hayden's recommendation.

GL5 LSD gear oil for Porsche steel synchros. Swepco 201 seems to work good in my transmission, and I hear this stuff is real good too.
Pelican Parts - Product Information: KEN-LSD-7745

Back in the eightee's it was Valvoline.

Swepco here too. And I use it in my 915 on a track car that use to see oil temps in the 240 range in 95+ heat. Shifting use to get a bit bulky at those temps but it held together and never failed.

Well I finally found the bottle I used before and it was
Red Line, Lightweight Shockproof Gear Oil.

I never had an issue with this oil, and I never see anyone talk about Red Line.
Or anything else....

But the Swepco 201 seems to be the choice...

I recently changed my gearbox oil and used Motul Gear300LS. It meets/exceeds GL5 spec. So far very happy with this choice. I don't know what was in the gearbox before, but it was a red color (possibly Redline?).

I used to run a zero weight gear oil in the gearbox when I raced Formula Vee...anything for the extra 1/2 horsepower. Clearly not the choice for a 930...

I'm also running the Swepco, which is no help in answering your question.
