930 feels like it's lost some power? Check your cat!

A friend's '87 was running good but seemed to miss that "kick" that it should have - definitely felt a little underpowered. Upon removal and inspection of the cat the problem was discovered... the poor car couldn't breathe!

Just a heads up for anyone out there who feels their turbo may have lost some oomph, check into removing/replacing the catalytic converter!

The honeycomb material had essentially welded itself together, which is a natural reaction over time from what I've researched.

And if you get a new one the old one is worth $100 or more at the wreckers.

long story short, F cats....

being around subarus for a long time i have seen to many turbo wrecks, myself included. The STi comes with a pre turbo cat that burns up and breaks into pieces and finds its way into the turbo...

i destroyed a 1200$ turbo that way...

My advice: Ditch the cat entirely. If you live where emissions testing is required, then run with a cat bypass pipe and simply swap it out once a year with the cat for testing purposes.

Don't need/want no stinkin' cat which only adds weight, adds high temperatures, and adds exhaust restriction.

Recycle it....the platinum is worth big-bucks these days.
