Idle Speed Adjustment??

I'm days new to this car, have 1st smog test this afternoon.

Today I noticed that the car seems to idle slightly above 1000 RPM. I know the smog test will kick out if the idle goes above 1050 RPM.

Is there an easy idle speed adjustment?

Yes, at the base of the throttle body's left hand side is a spring-loaded screw. It takes a long screwdriver to reach (I mean long, like over a foot long) because you have to enter along the left side and back behind the intercooler (behind meaning toward the front of the car)...get your hand and arm snaked back there and with a flashlight spot the adjusting screw.

Screw it in, and it will allow less air to bypass the throttle body and the rpms will drop. Of course there are other things that can cause high idle, but yours is just a minor tweak away. Should be at 950 IIRC.

Didn't end up having time to find the screw buried in the bowels of the engine.

Went ahead and had the test done, with pre-test first.

Passed handily with 16 ppm HC at both idle speeds, and 0.0%CO at both speeds.

Did have to turn on A/c and lights to get idle down and stay down.

Thanks for the tip on idle speed. I will get in there and adjust it down to 950.
