1. DC Automotive (Jeff) # 800-579-2410 or 252-977-1430
They might have/locate the harness.

2. Franz Blam Racing (Franz) # 770-939-6100
Franz knows the guy that makes them.

I'd try Jeff first, and if no luck call Franz.

Good luck!

Thank you!
Did you ever surmise the cause of your harness disaster?

What is the status of your battery?
I would remove it and check it really good. If the trickle charger was hooked up backwards( or it malfunctioned) it would cause this and mess up your battery. We saw this on a boat, and the battery actually reversed polarity....odd because I'm an electrician and had never seen that before.
Check your grounds and other main battery/power connections really good...if the insulation is loose replace the wire. You might have a short somewhere as well. Frankly I would toss the trickle charger and just disconnect the battery during times of non use. I know they work but I am not comfortable leaving a battery hooked to the wall like that. I bought one last week and hooked it up and after three days the thing never went to maintenance mode.....so I disconnected it fearing that it would boil the battery. But I would never trust that charger you have again.

Totally out of the blue, I was leaving Barber Motorsports after a "fantastic" instructors track day, stopped to put gas in the way home, cranked her up and as I was leaving the gas station it died - just died - followed by a stinky white smoke coming out of the cooling fan... after it cooled down it would crank but running erratically, backfiring + the green alt light on... so, after taking the top of the engine apart realized that the wire between the alt and starter went to ground - somehow, I guess rubbing/wear - and melted down about 4 inches of the harness... lucky it didn't catch fire. BTW, the short also took the WUR, alternator & voltage regulator. Expensive and time consuming repair but she's back, and running strong as ever. So, there's hope!

Well the damage was so extensive to the lines between the starter and alternator I will be hard pressed to find the actual cause. I have yet to take the alt/voltage regulator in for assessment but I would be hard pressed to believe that they are in good health! As for the WUR I would have not thought that it would have been affected... but I have a spare on the shelf at home just in case.
Wonder if I should put an in-line fuse on some of the lines? Everything seems pretty venerable!
