I'm looking for a pic of the decal on the fan housing strap/band. If you can give me the part # that's printed on that decal, all the better.

Turbo Sticker for 330bhp Euro Engine

Here you go Dave. I pulled this up from an engine shot of my old (as in long gone to a new home) 1985 Euro 930.
Part number looks like 930 006 501 02. ![]()

You have a 930 SE, if I remember correctly, yes? Beautiful SE, btw. I wondered why my shroud strap didn't not have a decal on it. It's not an SE, but it is the 330HP engine. billjam and JJ 911SC, Thanks! This is why this site rocks! World-wide support from every corner of the earth.

Interesting note;
The decal off the 930 SE engine runs at 25*BTDC@4000RPM, while the 300HP engine runs at 28*BTDC@4000RPM. Bluebox88, the 930 SE factory boost threshold is .8 BAR or 1.0 BAR? I should probably back off my timing at 24BTDC to a couple of degrees less, since I'm running twin-plug. I've never had any detonation issues, but to be safe.....

timing on a 930/66 S engine is 29? what would be the difference in the S and the SE to change the timing to 25?

The engine billjam photographed is the 300BHP 3.3l RoW engine. The 3.3l 33oBHP 930 SE engine has different cams and turbo and maybe more boost. That could explain less advance.

not to derail the thread but what would be the characteristics of higher timing on a engine that need s lower timing? what would it run like?

930 SE boost
Dave-
My understanding is the 330bhp factory engine left Werke1 with boost set at 1.0 bar in addition to the other alterations. 1986 Porsche Slant Nose Turbo with only 2,500 miles « Porschebahn Weblog Franz Blam once told me that these engines commonly dyno'd at 360 to 380bhp from the factory. Bill |
