UPDATE: Twin Turbo 930 / EFI Conversion

Well, as many of you may know, taking on a twin turbo project is no small task. But, I am committed so here goes. I got a great deal on a set of twin turbo manifolds and an IC, so I decided to tackle the project.

It was supposed to be a simple thing of putting in larger cams, bolting on the manifolds w/turbos and engine management and go down the road.

Months later, I've totally reconfigured the IC, sold the manifolds, and are just about done with the custom manifolds(rear setup). The engine now has forged pistons/rods(Wossner), webcam racing valve springs w/ titanium retainers and bottoms, webcam GT2 Evo cams, Garrett GT28 dual ceramic ball-bearing turbos w/billet 58/57 wheels, heads ported heads, 1000cc inj.etc, etc.

Anyway, I think we've addressed all the issues and this thing should be road going soon. This is kinda the cliff notes version of the project because if I included everything I'm sure I'd have pages...

This is a few before and after pics

I wish I had known you were going to do something like that, could have saved you a lot of time/money. I have a set of those sitting on the shelf ...

Brian, the manifolds were the least of my worries, as they were done by some local friends of mine. It's rest of the crap that adds up No worries though, I'm just about there. Brian shoot me a pm, it's about the bumper

Very nice. If you need more IC, I would think a 993tt peice could be made to work.

sub'd. Interested in seeing where the torque curve puts you and numbers v a single turbo setup generally. Good luck, I am sure it will be very rewarding doing it yourself.

How about I just give you the keys and let you go on your own. One obvious request though, don't crash it

I was just doing this Gt28rs build in my head, I'm extremely interested to see if the boost comes on as early as I saw it coming.

Not a whole lot to report but lots coming soon. We've been removing all of the old existing wiring harness from the engine compartment as well as all of the crap from under the drivers seat(thank god that headache's gone). I can say the engine's ready to go in and the rest of the fabrication will take place once its in...which will probably happen this week

All buttoned up

Old rear wiring harness. Is that nuts or what.

Ignition

Is that coil on plug? If so, what did you use?

For the level of your build... GT28R's are a bit on the small side. You got a nice build sheet! But you will run out of air with those turbo's before everything else comes close??

Hey Flash! Great build.

Can you do us a favor and weigh the assembly? I'm interested in seeing how much the transmission/engine and intercooler weigh as a single component.

I weighed this setup for my stock 915/NA 3.2 and I'm about to do it for my LS conversion.

I used a deer scale that I picked up from Bass Pro Shops.

Thanks,

Hal

I hear ya GJF. The turbo's were sourced before everything else. Believe me, this is where the build sheet ended up not where it started. In the beginning they were more than enough, but now they're simply gonna complete the build. I figured I'd see where this set-up ends up then address the stock fuel rails and turbo's down the road. We'll see what MR. Frank Smith formerly of SFP can get out of this thing.

I gotta tell ya GJF, you Jetjox, Mr. Bello & crew, over hear on the east coast and of course Mr. Carroll were the reason I decided to do a project like this. I stiil get goose bumps everytime I hear that slant of yours crank up on youtube Any helpful input from you is gladly welcomed anytime.

Mitch
