Gross. Glad everyone's alright.

Just goes to show you just because someone's on a forum doesn't automatically make them a nice guy.

With used anything, it really should be inspected before being mounted on the car. Especially structural items and wheels. Wheels endure a huge amount of stress. There are also some used items I just stay away from, period (unless it's from a good friend I know and trust), such as safety components. Doesn't matter if it's free. There are also some shops I stay away from, not matter what anyone says.

You'd be surprised at what shops do. I've seen a LOT of racecars, many club-level prepared by shops. Some of these shops do pretty sketchy work. I've seen suspension bolts of improper diameter and strength. I've seen suspension components made to fit the wrong way because it 'looks better' that way. All by shops pretty highly regarded. 'Highly regarded' - i.e. they have teams in pro series', been featured in magazines, you name it. A lot of these shops are amazingly not only still in business, but getting a lot of customers.

In other words, there are some supposedly 'high end' shops that produce some scary things. Saying they were 'cobbled together' would be understatement.

Don't misunderstand, there are plenty of honest, great shops out there. But do your research. I've got a whole list of shops I never do business with.

Nice job on researching first though, Walt gave you an informative response!

Take care!
