Slant Nose Conversion vs Standard 930 Front

I've been lurking and reading for awhile in an effort to gather as much information as I can before taking the 930 plunge.

Found an extremely nice slant nose conversion that's pretty much in my price range. It's about the same $$$ as a pretty nice "standard" front. Similar miles, but the slant's had lots of recent work (rebuilt tranny, brakes, tires etc) while the other one is a well-maintained, two owner car (current owner's had it since 85). Both are real 930s with essentially stock drivetrains.

Here's my question; if everything else is equal (of course, in the case of the cars I'm looking at, things aren't - the converted car is nicer) how does the value of a 930 with a very well done slant nose conversion (steel) compare with one that hasn't been altered?

Thanks,

Norm

Depends on who did the conversion and when and with what parts. OEM parts?
Generally, a slant conversion is worth less than either a real slant or a regular 930.

Be weary! There are a lot of hacked up cars out there. Check for documentation on who did the slant nose conversion. When I bought mine I was luke warm on a slant nose. It was the nicer car though and I figured if I did not warm up to it, I could always go back to the stock look for around $3-5k.

I have grown pretty fond of it though. It seems like there are a lot of them for sale on auto-trader at any given time compared to the stock nose cars given how many were converted. Looking at auto-trader, there does not seem to be much of a difference in price between slant and stock for similar mileage cars.

When you check the records, take a look at driving frequency as well. How did those miles get on the car. Did it sit for years at a time. Given the age of these cars, even a 100k miles car is really a low use vehicle if you look at miles per year.

They are a blast to drive!!

Good Luck!

Mark
