Anyone running big torsion bars on the street?
I have 22/29 torsion bars on my 930 and they feel a little soft on the street and very soft at the track. Does anyone here run 23/33 or 24/34 on the street? Some seem to say this is too stiff, but the GT3 owners often run 600/900 pounds per inch on the street which is stiffer, even with weight taken into account. I'd like to stick with the simplicity of torsion bars and not go for coil overs.

I run 23/30's on the street, these seem fine for my usage.
31mm is the largest "T" bars I've ever seen, I do not think anybody makes anything bigger???? Check out Elephant Racing products or Sanders, maybe you can find larger diameter bars there. Mark |

I run 23 and 33s on the street.
Its fine for the street and great on track. You need to match up the right shock for the whole thing to work. These cars need to be as stiff as you can get it for the best result. If you are going to change, dont mess around. Put the biggest T Bars you can get in it. I have the level 3 and 4 Von shocks from elephant in it. The front is perfect, but the rear is to soft. Firm up the rear as much as you can. IMO I am sending the rear shocks back for a firm up. Good luck.

Great, this is what I imagined, except I think I'll go for revalved bilsteins.
What sway bars are you running?

The revalved bilsteins will be fine.
Talk to Chuck at elephant, he can work out what you need for sway bars. I just use the stock ones, they are fine for my needs. The Von shock from elephant are a nice shock and good value. By the time you fresh up and revalve your bilsteins, the new Vons make sense. I would do the bars and shocks first, do some track work and then do the sways. This way you understand what changes do what. Then you have the knowledge going forward. A few other tricks I can share with you after your bars and shocks. Most important thing you can for track work is the tyre. Get the softest comp tyre you can. I use the Dunlop DZO3Gs, not sure you have them in the US. Stuckey Tyre Service - Racing with Dunlop Motorsport since 1972 Good luck.
