AFR on gauge different than tunerstudio
The gauge reads typically 1 to 1.5% richer than the reading in tunerstudio I have MS 3 and I saw a setting in the: General settings>Input smoothing lag factors>Lambda averaging lag factor. I am curious if this could be the cause it is set at 60 right now

Go into Tools then Calibrate AFR and make sure you have the correct gauge settings.
My lag factor is set at 50, but I don't that is what is causing your reading discrepancy. Dave |
I am going to make a big assumption that the gauge innovate supplied is reading correct
tunerstudio is reading lean the gauge rich and the gas mileage sucks soI am thinking the gauge is correct. |
I had too many issues with Innovate so switched to AEM and I like the no need to calibrate and zero quality problems.

which innovate are you using? i too had this problem until switching to the new mtx. i even used my analog guage instead of the one supplied ( stuck it behind pass kickboard wrapped in bubble wrap) and ran the yellow wire to ms2. works flawlessly

I am using the LS-1 with the digital gauge. On the analog gauge did you drive it off of megasquirt?

i would highly recomend the new mtx unit for a few reasons. 1 it is much more stable and accurate. 2 you remove the "brain" of the unit from our extremely hostile environment as the " brain" is located in the guage itself. wiring is far simpler with only 3 wires and innovate highly recomens it to use in contrlling efi. i got fairman(still cis) and dmatera (efi) to switch and both are very happy. like i said i didnt like the sweeping lights and digital displat so i ran my analog, period correct looking guage from my lc1 off the extra output brown wire and run my ecu off the yellow output wire. veeery accurate now. i would say within .10-.15

So i have an LM-1 what will i have to get for use with the ms-3 i cant just plug the sensor into it? i have to get another black box of somekind? I had forgot all about that thought i had everything electronic in my pile of parts.

IIRC LM-1 also has a analog out that you could use.

Ok the MTX unit is on my list for when the LS-1 fails but if I remember right and correct me if wrong the gauge is a digital output and the tie in to megasquirt is analog so which one do I believe is most accurate I would ask Innovate but the last time I did they just told me to send it back to them they wanted the 75 dollar fee to replace it.
Never mind they are both analog but still which one should I believe? And how long is the cable the sensor plugs into on the MTX |
Are they both (Innovate and MS-ECU) grounded to the same place?

there are only 5 wires total on the mtx. red power, black ground, and white to light source,the yellow(which i ran to my ecu) and the brown to my other guage. you can get the optional 13 foot cable to go from sensor to the guage thus making install options almost endless, and once again the "brain" of the unit is nowhere near the high temps the lc-1 experiences

I think this is a grounding issue really and I have already fried 1 sensor but I think the controller is in a relatively cool spot in the engine bay. I did make a stainless steel heat shield in addition to the heat cover on the wiring and we will see if that extends the life of the sensor as it is the sensor lasted over 3 years but I think they should last longer. But when I change I will use the mtx.

It is supposed to be near 60 here in the next couple days so I will get a chance to get out and take a look.

Just did a search and amazon has a good price on it.
Innovate Motorsports 3844 MTX-L Complete All-In-One Air/Fuel Ratio Gauge Kit : Amazon.com : Automotive They work great and it comes with black or white faces and black or silver rings. I like analog instruments better but I can read this digital readout alot faster when glancing down at the console while driving. The innovate sheilded extension cable to the oxygen sensor is needed in 911's |
All the grounds in the same place I am going to hookup my gas analyzer to see which one is correct

I wonder if the math functions that Tunerstudio expects and the LM1 output are different?
I am mentioning this because I had a similar problem getting the AFR display on my Aim Pista to read the same as the display from my TechEdge WB controller display. To get the displays to agree I had to tweak the math function on the Aim display so that it matches the displayed output from my WB controller. You need to use one as a baseline... which do you feel comfortable believing? |
well if you calibrate it in air and check it in tuner studio it should be correct
