930 targa arrived

On friday my new toy, a black 1988 930 targa arrived at my home.
Yesterday I took the car out for a drive to get a feeling for tech condition.
Its amazing, I found absolutely nothing which was not in function, even heat and
air condition work great.
The engine starts, runs and drives close to perfect.
I didn't rew it to redline, but power seems great for a non mods 930 engine.

It is quite a long story how this 930 found the way to me.
In may 2012 on rennlist a NewZealand member posted that the car
is offered locally.
I had a buddy 10km away, but he is great in computers only, cars he only uses.
Anyway, pictures and videos arrived, seller seemed trustful, the story began.
The difficult point was, how to get the money down there and exchange it for the car.
My buddy has moved back to Germany meanwhile...
We solved this with a trust account, but some risk was still there.
As always: No risk no fun!
I bought the 930 targa unseen by myself, I know, thats crazy, but it turned out well.
As said above, mechanically the 930 feels fine, I need to check the body more
deeply, but overall there is nothing obviously.

Needs some tlc, carpets and leather are "linen", what means beige/grey,
not my favorite color anyway.
Maybe I am able to clean the interior, maybe not.

Overall I am very happy now, but this overseas transaction gave me nervous times.

so far
Falk

Agree.. very nice car. Factory 930 Targa's represent the lowest production #'s of all versions of the 930.. Yes, fewer Targa's than Cabs produced.

There is a guy local to me with a slant nose targa in petrol blue with linen now that is rare. Forgot my manners, congrats on a wonderful purchase.

Great looking car! Love the stance. These are very special cars that need to be preserved. Hope you enjoy it, welcome to the Targa 930 club.
