Magic sealant, JB weld, Oil additives!
Magic sealant, JB weld, Oil additives! Interested in everyones thoughts on this.
Is it now acceptable to put a magic sealent on a bad seal instead of replacing it? Put a dab of JB weld instead of welding the casting? Fuel injection cleaner instead of new injectors? Etc... I'm old and old school but seems like magic in a bottle is now becoming the norm. Shelves are full of trans medic, compression fix, power steering fix, oil leak fix, rad repair etc. If you were to buy a car and found these fixes would you accept them as ok?

JB weld is ok for glue in my opinion. I like some epoxys for plastic repairs in some cases. If I strip a stud, replace it, or a pull out of a bore, I use a helicoil or a case saver. Magic sealant, There is no magic. The sealand I just recently used is made for toyota cars and is a gasket replacement, no magic there but is great for sealing mating surfaces. I use techron for helping to keep fuel parts clean and functioning. If an injector is old and out of it's operating range for wear, no fuel system cleaner will help but I like to use chevron and an ocasional system clean with a bottle of the stuff.
In answer to your question about buying a car with all the isues like cracked heads fixed with jb weld........I'd be angry wanting rembursement.
