I would say... a only a few. I had a 1987 Marine blue Non Sunroof 930.... and i wish I had never sold it. The story I was told was that Porsche made all 930 bodies with a sunroof... If a "sunroof delete" car was optioned.. they had to go get a 934 type race tub from Porsche motorsports and then build the "sunroof delete" car out of that chassis. Don't know if that is true but it sounds cool. T

Sounds cool but.....by 1987 the 934 / 935s were long gone replaced by the 956 / 962s probably had a better chance of taking a roof off of a non turbo car.

A good welder could turn a sunroof car into a sunroff-delete car. Just a little finish grinding, some paint, and a new headliner and who would know? (feeling rather blasphemous this evening).

Andreas Gabriel’s new book, “Porsche 911 Turbo – Air Cooled Years 1975 – 1998“ has some excellent information on the number of ’80-88 930’s ordered with sunroofs. There are a surprising number of 930’s that were not ordered with optional sunroofs (esp. ROW)

The term “sunroof delete” is a misnomer except the British market were they were standard. As a general rule, more sunroofs were ordered for U.S. 930’s than ROW but that was also true for limited slip, etc. As to Porsche making 930’s standard with sunroofs and then deleting them later, this does not make sense from a cost or production standpoint. Why not just make some tubs with sunroofs and some without and then complete the car for ROW or U.S.? Stories abound for the 930 as no one has written a comprehensive book on the subject.
