NHS Boost gauge

Just installed my new NHS boost gauge. There's a slight metalic rattling noise coming from it, mostly at idle but I also notice it at steady cruise speed. It seems to work just fine, but the noise is irritating.

Before I call NHS to complain, has anyone else experienced this?

My NHS boost gauge also seemed to rattle a bit. The housing appeared to be slightly smaller than the clock that it replaced. Bit of tape to fit the gauge opening fixed the buzz, but this was years ago. Seemed strange since NHS is the "go-to" spot for VDO.

I noticed that as well - it's not as snug a fit as the clock. Figured a new rubber gasket might help, but I'll try some foam backed tape first -maybe that will quiet the rattling too.

Come to think of it, I had to add some tape to the diameter of the case under the rubber.

Hi Richard,

I also have that metalic rattling noise coming from inside the gauge. It usually rattles when I let off the gas pedal. It's annoying when you hear it. I'd like to find a solution on how to fix it...

Cheers

/ Tobias

They're cheepish but I like mine. Maybe I'm def. they look correct and that's important. You can buy lots better ones and lots cheaper ones too. But none look correct other than this one.

There are some posts in the following, old thread regarding the "rattle".

Anyone interested in a NHS boost gauge?

You mean in the clock position or tach? Stock 930 has it in the tach and its electronic but not good. Not sure who made and Andail tel tale gauge, maybe vdo but its pricey$$. I don't remember one for the clock location that looks more at home than nhs gauge. Looks perfect.

What I meant by "correct" is the quality of the construction, the VDO gauge is by far put together the best,BTDT.
