What do you suppose a basket case 76 930 is worth?

1976 euro.
I don't know what I am going to do with this car. I would really love to hold it, but you know, life is complicated, I have soo many damn projects in life, and at 42 with a family, and two business, I am starting to come to grips with the reality, that I may not get to every project I ever dreamed of. I could also use the space at the shop, I have been storing it for years now, and want to do some work to the building.
It ran pretty well, 5 years ago. I don't remember it smoking all that bad, it had 8 or 9 broken head studs, and more than one cylinder had several broken ones with bad cylinder head leakage. Assume it needs a total overhaul, Also needs paint and interior, suspension, trans would grind into 3 rd, . etc... the whole deal. Incorrect tail ( whale tale), but the car is super solid , and rust free, pans were nice and clean last time I looked. Only rust that I know of is on the incorrect tail.
I know the market is getting kind of hot on these. I thought maybe this thread should be in the market place forum, but figured that some of you guys seem to keep a pretty good watch on the turbo market.

I'd think a good $15k to get my foot in the door is fair. I might be stupid though.

I take it a sunroof delete? I can't tell from the photo. I would say that would add some value. I would say in the mid teens. It sounds like there is about $20k in mechanicals and another $12-18k in appearance, landing in the $50k's for all in.

Why would you destroy a perfectly good car?!?!

You only part out wrecks. If you part out for money, you're not a true Porsche/car lover.

I'm with you.. if the OP is in it for the money, the best value is in the parts. IF others here don't approve, buy ALL the parts and reassemble it

15 usd?

The 3 litre Turbos are on the up for sure and more research is needed, but if it was mine I wouldn't sell it for double that.

If it's like you say not rusty, the rest is very diy-able so should appeal to quite a wide audience. If it needs loads of welding however its a completely different thing.

IMHO

Drag it out of storage, send it to us for restoration then sell it for $70+K. We'll have a buyer lined up before it is finished.

heres my take on the market after seeing many cars bought and listed in the EU.

a really nice 930 thats all original with full records and a driver with a few miles on it (75k-100k) will bring 35k-45k euro.

a really nice 930 thats a great driver and has been serviced and modified to some extent( engine, suspension, repaint, etc) will bring 29-32k euro

ONLY the completely all original 930's with low miles bring big money! I mean don't even change the stereo! and concours clean. these are the cars that bring 50-80k euro. the early cars are at the high end of this while they slowly get a little less expensive for the 80's models.

the 930's aren't old enough yet and there are still too many good original examples to be had to warrant a restored example bringing big money when you can find an original example for the same price. that said, i would keep your early turbo, I sold my 77 930 two years ago for good money and I have regretted it everyday since. there is something really special about the 75-77 turbos when you get behind the wheel.

Restoration cost must be in line with the market and sell price range. It is obviously not wise to spend more than resulting market value. A very high level of restoration can be achieved for much less than $70k.

You find me any all original 3.0 turbos with 100k on them with documentation and in 'really nice' condition for 35000 EUR and I will buy ALL OF THEM.
