1989 930 Heated Seats

Does anyone know the principle of operation for the heated seats, Seems a very complicated system for something that should be very simple!

The Dia shows the Delaying Relay, Switch and Back Element wired in parallel with the Seat and Side Elements in Series

I recorded the following on a working seat.

Relay

Terminals

15 Pos + 12 volts to Relay

HZG/87 - Power Out to Elements

31 Neg volts to Relay, rheostat, Seat Elements

EA +3 Volts

P+ - +5 Volts

These EA and P+ results did not seam to change if the seat element was energized or not

Delaying Relay is very expensive, so dont want to swap unit for the good side and f*** the good one up!

Think the same for the 928!

thanks

kev

There are about three 930s worldwide that have the heated seats option, yours is one of them.

Depends on where the car was ordered from and deliverd to. You're probably right for the California and southern US markets, but there's lots of them here that had heated seats!
