As I already mentioned, I received my 78 930 last Wednesday, #170. Here’s how my week went:

First thing; remove the buzzer!!!! Done
Then found that the car had a respray. Oh well.
Second: Rid all the rattles. I hate rattles. My ‘86 Targa was rock solid so I knew something was up. Started with the dash and was amazed at all the loose screws everywhere. Tightened them all up and big improvement. Now to the doors. I stripped the doors down to the steel to see what was going on. More loose screws and nuts. Tightened them all up. Next adjusted the window track and the window rattle is now gone.

Now I have the Porsche “carved from rock” feel.

While the doors were off discovered a lot of interesting things. Maybe someone can help me interpret these… Don't mind the blue tape, that was me. I think there was some body damage....

Looks un-molested to me except where someone got a little over zealous with the screwdriver changing out the speaker. I am not a body guy but looks normal to me.

lol on the buzzer - amen! I was all over Buzzectomy'ing mine but then it died a sudden whimpering last trailing buzz death of its own thankfully. Painful.

I'm no body expert but this pic seems to indicate hot spots created by fusing pullers to the door to pull out a dent @ the lower rear end, as well as having the 'dynamat' sound deadening ending abruptly (compare to other door) - my guess:

I wouldn't sweat it too much (long as it was done right) - many of the best cars out there are on resprays as has been mentioned - mine included (not to say it's one of the best but).

I'm of the thought that many times respray that's held up at this point is better than 25-35yr old paint.

Neat car, also love the Cork gut. Enjoy the beejeezus out of it!

Yes, I think it was in some kind of accident on the passenger side door.

Got the doors back together and took it out for a drive. Big improvement with the rattles gone.

Next up a inspection of the suspension. Let's hope for the best!
