Working on a factory slantnose book
I have started working on a detailed factory slantnose book. I plan on having it finished in 2 years. It will be my first book and have wanted to do one for over 10 years.
I am restoring one factory 87 930S and will take many detailed pictures one I have the car all apart. I have some new parts and some of the rarer parts to photograph. I know I will also need to go to Porsche or have somebody there work with me on some information and factory pictures. I have already written quite a few notes to incorporate into the book. I may need some help with pictures of your cars too, with photo credit given. What kinds of things would you like to see in the book? Thanks for your suggestions. |
Sound great.
Maybe a Myth vs Fact chapter... |
I have a 100% original '89 factory slantnose cab with 9,000 miles. If you need any detailed pics just let me know.

Quinn-
Contact me about borrowing the factory brochures from Sonderwunsche Programme. I have numerous photos as well. Good luck with your research. Bill |
While shopping I really wanted a factory slant. It took me a long time to be able to differentiate between early factory slants, later 505 factory slants, post delivery sonderwunsch, Porsche dealer-wunsch, it's real because it's steel vs. fiberglass-wunsch and the "totaled '83 became a slant-wunsch. Oh and true 930S also.
I finally gave up. The murkiness cast a shadow on all slants to me with this question of "is that a "real" because they're all real to some extent. I still love the look and history of these special cars but if you can clear that up it would have really helped me communicate what I was looking for. I still think about buying one from time to time so please work fast. . . |
Thanks Sloane and thanks Bill.
Very true reachme. The water has been real murky on these cars for awhile. I believe if we have a good reference book it could clear up a lot of these issues and make all of our cars have a better value and to be better understood. I will be also looking for good stories about factory slantnose cars. I have been involved with slantnose 930S's for 25 years now and what a better way to celebrate. |
