LSD swap

I am contemplating a G50 swap into a 930. I have a question to the tranny experts:

Would an LSD from 930 4 speed fit into G50 Carrera tranny?

Thanks
Jerz

930 and 915 use the same LSDs, but 930/915 do not interchange with G50 - or vice versa.

What he said. G50 and 930 LSD are two different specs.

To install a G50 in a non G50 car you have to change the rear torsion tube. Can be done....but do you want to do this to your 930? I have a 89 G50 narrow body Carrera with a G50 LSD and a 3.3T...best of both worlds. Love it. Spins 255 rubber in 3rd gear. My local guy has done this Torsion Tube "915 to G50 modification" many times and it comes out quite nice. He may have the parts lying around from a wreck. Don't know what it will do to the value of your 930.

Thanks for the info Guys. I am planing to machine the tranny - make a short bell housing. No change to the chassis.

You may still have to relieve (remove) part of the rosette-welded cover between the two ends of the torsion bar holders themselves. Some cars don't need this, but some do. JohnJL posted pictures that are very helpful to visualize what's under the cover when he did his.

Some talk about denting it, but I don't know what size hammers they have in their shop... A BFH isn't in the ballpark. A 28 lb sledge might just work.
