EFI conversion/ noisy fuel pump. HELP?
I´we hook everything up on my efi conversion now, and when i turn the igntion on i hear the fuel pump is louder then usual. At first i thought maby it was "pumping air" so i loosen the upper connector on the fuel filter and it started spraying, meaning there is pressure in the fuel lining.
I have a carrera manifold with the fuel lining and i have connected the 930 fuel return hose under the fuel pressure regulator and a fuel hose from the midle hard fuel tube to the top of the fuel filter. the fuel hose that was on top of the acumulator is now at the bottom of the fuel filther and the acumulator and long bent tube is taken out. Have i done this right?? oh and one more thing when i put the fuel pump on i hear some weak blow ish sound, but i can´t find any fuel leaks. |

Does not sound bad so far. Here is may setup, no Carrera manifold, but that's not the case here, function principle is the same:
![]() ![]() Regarding the noise: You're pumps are now running as soon you turn the ignition on and the stay running? With CIS they won't run until car is firing up, so you never hear them running before (except you push down the metering plate. My pumps are a bit noisy to, when I let them run without engine, so maybe it's in the normal range and you just did not hear them running alone before...? BTW I don't know what EFI you're running, but pumps shouldn't run alone all the time (exception race cars with pump switches in the dashboard), so check the steering circuit from ECU

Mine also made a lot of noise when I first started it after making the EFI conversion. I damaged mine by running it without fuel while testing the fuel pump relay setup.
They will also make a lot of noise if the regulated pressure is set way too high (like 7 bar). |

When I first turn the key, the pump run for 8 seconds and then wait for the engine to run to kick in.
The only thing I can think about the "noise" is that before I converted, I was always in the car when I start her up and barely notice the hum from the pump., but as I'm setting the EFI out, I'm outside the car and I can really hear the pump going on and its amazing along 8 seconds last as I'm cycling the program on and off. On the bright side, I'm finally at the stage to take the car on the road for its first ride... P.S.; My Regulator Pressure is set a 42 PSI

I thought of a couple of other things:
The rear pump is mounted in a rubber isolater go keep the noise down. Did you keep that, and are you sure your new fuel lines are not pulling on it in a way that keeps the rubber isolator from working? Also, I can hear mine from outside the car, but just a little. |
