Good progress, Ken.
It's going to be a huge motivation once you see the fan and ITBs back on it.

And those valve guides will last just fine for how the car will be used. *Maybe* they're small if you have 9mm valve stems, and maybe they're small if you were building an engine to compete at Sebring, Daytona, or LeMans, but this is a high-performance street car.

Yeah i had a very long detailed discussion with Bill before i made the decision to spend that much money. I dont hand anyone a check for thousands of dollars just because it's the next shiney new thing. how many years did i wait for the machine work on the crank and case before i could afford to get it done. Especially when he looked at them and said all of your valves are worn out.

I'm pretty close to being able to get the shroud and itb's back on there. I have a new stripped down wiring harness on the way and need to figure out where to get the plugs and rout wires from the knock sensors.

This is for the Bosch VW EV1 style. https://www.ebay.com/i/253502960742?chn=ps
This is for the Porsche (89-98) 964 993 style. https://www.ebay.com/p/Bosch-Ignition-Knock-Sensor-Connector-999-650-156-40-Porsche-993-C2-C4-89-98/1029873010?iid=151054759911&chn=ps

There are many green versions.... Which sensor do you have?

It's the connector that plugs into the knock sensor you claim to have. It is also the same unit that was used in the 964's but with the new part number. The forms sponsor sells the whole thing in kit form. https://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/ksearch/pel_search_2016.cgi?command=show_part_page&please_wait=NG&make=POR&model=832&section=ELSENS&page=2&bookmark=9&part_number=964-606-141-00-KIT

Well i rolled the old girl out from the shelter I've been keeping her in to build a proper garage (steel building). She's looking pretty sad with the clear coat all peeling off in sheets. After i get the motor done I'll have many months of prepping and painting.

That's a bummer about peeling clear coat. What caused this to happen? I supposed that's why some certain color paint should not be clear coated? Your car should be a beast once all is done!

I had it painted ten years ago paid for good quality clearcoat. But not sure what they actually used. Had a5 year warranty and the paint started failing almost exactly 5 years later. Pretty missed about the whole thing. But once the motor is done it'll get stripped and redone

When I repainted my SC I did a high solids single stage paint, which I believe is what the factory used. It turned out great, but its the last car I'll ever paint!

I'm a very hands on guy and loathe farming anything out to anyone. Even though my paint turned out well, I'll never, ever, ever consider doing it myself again.

Disassembly, some prep, and reassembly I'll do, but everything else, no way!

Yeah I still haven't decided. I'll concentrate on getting the motor done first.
