For those who've been considering this, thought I'd share my upgraded custom "backdoor" Bell Intercooler install. Amazingly was able to fit this under the ducktail (stealth mode). dimensions are 18x12x3 core. Optimal would be 3.5" core, but this should flow enough and provide adequate cooling for my application.

Cheers!

Clean looking install! I would suggest you make a shroud for it so the air will go through instead of around the intercooler. BIG difference, you will notice.

Rarly I two different engine builders who at the time were very reputable tell me not to worry with the shrouded IC. It doesnt make that much difference? I have it in a box.

Thanks, all! Impressions so far... Noticeable increase in torque and lower boost threshold by 400RPM.

More importantly, after a few hard pulls the outlet side felt ambient vs charge side temp was hot to the touch. Very happy with the Bell core!

In my opinion, you were given false information by those engine builders, as air takes the path of least resistance, and much of it will travel around the sides/front/back of the intercooler with no shroud in place.

I would have to agree on this application. Turbo and carrera spoilers are different and almost have a force of air into the Intercooler but with this deck lid I would fashion a shroud and make sure the fan is pulling air through it.
