D-Zug Projekt Mjølner
For the past year, D-Zug Produkte has been working on a build that will showcase our expanding product range, test future products on both the street and track, and represent our company ethos at various events. And so, 'Project Mjølner' was born (named after a certain little blond kid named Thor that seems to hang around the shop a lot making vrooom vroom noises)
The basis of the build is a 1986 Turbo that had been built to the following specs by the previous pelican/owner (the motor had barely 200 break-in miles): 3.3 930 case Mahle 98mm pistons/cylinders 97’ 993TT crankshaft 993TT oil pump Pauter connecting rods Dowel pinned case 993 oil filter counsel in addition to stock tank mounted filter Boat tailed case Ported and twin plugged heads ARP head studs Motorsport springs GT-2 cams Non-hydraulic tensioners with safety collars on them 3.2 plenum Marren Fuel Injection rails Accel 72 lb/hr injectors Nology coil Accel DFI stand alone injection system Accel DFI billet distributor Wilson Mustang 75mm throttle body + custom adaptor Clutch Masters pressure plate and Spec stage 3+ friction disk (sprung full faced sintered iron) Miller Race car custom intercooler (Big) 666 Fabrications turbo manifolds (1 ¾” primaries- 2 ¼ secondaries- divided T-4 flange) GT-4094R turbo with 1.06 hot side (small 42R…) Custom 4” exhaust Tial 50mm blow off valve Twin Tial V44 wastegates Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump Aeromotive regulator -10AN feed line for fuel system Mocal front mounted oil cooler and Elephant Racing duct All A/C and heat components removed (with the exception of the front blower motors/blend box…) Defi boost and EGT gauges AEM wideband o2 sensor and gauge Stainless steel brake lines + Super Blue Original 4 speed gearbox with short shifter and urethane bushings in coupler Solid motor mounts In other words.... built for SERIOUS speed, which is why we got it Our starting point: ![]() ![]()

Our first decision was to decide in which direction to head with our 'blank canvas'. There is just something so quintessentially bad-ass about a high HP 911/930 with traditional lights and wide hips, so we voted for non-slant and rounded flanks in the vein of the turbo RSR, Egon Evertz 935 and Silverstone/Mugello 935-001. As for tail, only one would do - the early 934.5/935 tail. we were still exploring our front bumper options...

So we continued on with our extensive R&D program, off to Stuttgart.

After much R&D on two continents, we stopped at a brauhaus to discuss which front bumper would fit our needs. many pints later we decided on the 2.1 turbo RSR nose and as luck would have it. a fellow pelican was having Dawe Motorsports build his car with that front bumper. After a couple phone calls with Mr. Dawe, Mjølner's new bumper was on its way to join the rest of the panels.
![]() p.s. Dawe's are the ones responsible for this tribute! ![]() ![]()

Since Justin and I immediately revert back to the 8 year old versions of ourselves
when we're around shiny new parts and 911's... we had to at least put the 935/76 wing in place, and then take 10,000 pics of how cool it looks! I'll spare you all but one.

Then its off to the bodyshop. The guys we chose specialize in general (not just Porsche) race car building and repair, whether it be metal, fiberglass, or carbon fiber. We went over numerous photos of the final result we were after. These guys were key when getting the quarters to fit... your guys have to be artists and craftman, not just 'body guys'

Symmetrical was not in our quarter panels vocabulary.

And finally, several weeks later. The car was nearing completion at this stage, as we asked for delivery to us in a primed and sanded 'ready to paint' condition. as Justin so eloquently puts it "DJ Spray Master Pete is gonna lay it down like buttttaaahhhh"
We were also test fitting our 'mule wheel' to get the correct F/R offsets for our D-Zug Produkte Forgeline centerlock wheels. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

its time to paint!
As alluded to earlier, we picked the car up in primer, once back at DZ SkunkWerks I went to work. To get a black that would really standout, or absorb you in, I chose PPG single stage and mixed in a little blue to kill the 'browning' you see in most blacks. I'm pretty pleased with the results. ![]() ![]()

From the outset, we wanted this car to be a reflection of our ethos here at D-Zug, as well as pay homage to the cars which inspired us. To this extent, we added a design element to the front splitter which gave a nod to the seminal 935.

The tail decided to show 20+ years of fiber glass cracks after it was painted...nothing we can't fix.

Man, it must feel great to post this after all the work you guys have put into it.
It is awesome. I noticed you picked up some Scandinavian spelling on "the hammer"

In our minds here at DZ, one of the sexiest, most beautiful parts of the 935, was the part that got covered up in the actual cars. Who doesn't remember this iconic shot....
![]() well, we were trying to figure out a way to show off the goods and keep the rear bumper in tact... Then, as I was talking bikes with my neighbor I remembered my favorite thing about my ducati was the beauty of its trellis frame...Bells went off, fire alarms sounded, cannons rang. and the result! ![]() ![]()

All of the sweating over the details and offset measurement with these wheels paid off in spades, as the fit was PERFECT. For those interested, we are running 19x14R/18x10F with 355 and 265 Pirelli Assyms. A big thanks to Dave Schardt and everyone at Forgeline for making our wheels a reality!

After Months of shop life, Mjølner finally saw the light of day in his new skin which just happened to be after a afternoon thunder storm.
