factory no,no's
I was looking at an 1980 930 (row) with no factory air,no factory sunroof and no factory power seats or heated seats. Is this rare or a special edition car?

My impression (by no means authoritative) is that North American cars were sold with every option the dealer could think to check on the order form, but that in other parts of the world, basic cars were much more common. In my opinion, more desirable too, as they are lighter and less complicated. I looked at a German import once, wind up windows, no sunroof, no a/c, just the stuff you need to go fast....

My reference book up till 80 breaks it down to the country it was delivered to. 1980 just shows ROW not where. Sorry.

When I bought mine (about 10 years ago) I was looking for a Euro w/o a sunroof.
Not more than a month after I finally found mine one came up for $15,000- Silver w/ manual green plaid cloth seats, no sunroof, no air, no pwr steering, roll up windows and it was a 1977 By far the coolest stock 930 I've seen. I was really close to buying it but I just couldn't. Not only did I just buy mine but I still hadn't sold my 911. Could a, should a. Oh well, I love mine and will have as long as I con drive it

The US market typically got fully equipped model with most comfort options because that was (is) what most buyers were asking for: sunroof, power windows, power mirrors, power leather seats, radio, etc...
But in Germany, these were usually additional cost options. Growing up I used to frequent the Eduard Winter Porsche dealership in Berlin, and seeing a fully optioned Porsche was a really unusual sight. 928s were often loaded up, but 911s and Turbos were usually pretty basic. Tom's 1984 ÜBER930 (2010: An EFI Hot Rod Odyssey) is a good example. He purchased the car in Germany with no sunroof, manual sport seats, and it started life with no passenger's side exterior mirror. I believe power windows and an LSD were its only options.
