H1 headlights in 930

Are 70's H1 headlights "plug and play" in a 79 930???

Are the housings bolt in?

Is the electrical plug the same?

Thanks John

Hi John,

I installed mine over 20 years ago but IIRC it waqs all plug and play. The housing slips on over the fender using the trim ring and the single screw at the bottom. Very snug fit especailly when trying to remove.

Plug and play. I would suggest three things having done this a few times:
- Rub a tiny bit of wax or dry lubricant on the inner bezel lip or the fender's tabs that grab the bezel...will help it go on...sort of.
- No need to use a super high output bulb. The stock 55W is what the system can handle or you need to upgrade the fuse and wiring to the headlight switch (again, don't remember the specifics of the wiring upgrade but well documented here).
- Make a mask out of clear vinyl to protect the lens as these are pricey now.

So the H1s are not original? Time to swap them onto my 69S, I guess.
