Throttle sticking on 77 930

Did a search but couldn't come up with anything. The throttle constantly sticks on my 930 when driving - doesn't do it when just revving up the motor. When going down the interstate, it is like it has cruise control. Will hold what ever speed you are traveling at until you touch the clutch pedal, at which time revs will drop to idle.

Mechanic says this is common and that the linkage bends from me pressing too hard on the accelerator. He has straightened it out but apparently I keep bending it - he even showed me how to straighten it by prying with a screw driver. However, there must be a better fix. Does anyone know the solution?

Thank you,

Ted

Check your throttle lever in between the front seats. Make sure its not pulled up. Even if it is not, it could still be the culprit if the plastic has broken off and has caught on the linkage.

Thanks Steve. Seems to be right next to the accelerator pedal as I can pry on the rod there and it will stop for a while. Mechanic says I need to not push so hard on the accelerator. :-)

I had this problem and fixed it with a throttle stop located under the gas pedal. I think I bought it here on Pelican

WOT is WOT regardless of how much pressure you put on the pedal, there should not be much pressure to get you there, it is just a flapper rotating 90*. I would consult another mechanic... BTW, not commom - M2c
