965 to 930 Retrofit

Esteemed Gentlemen:

Don't know if this has been discussed, but does anyone know the parts needed to retrofit a 965 to a 930-look? Just exterior. Thanks in advance!

Hmm, not sure why but I'd bet its harder than the other way around. Perhaps getting some Rsr bumpers and mounting mods?

IIRC it isn't easy.

A few people have converted a 964 to the early longhood style. One was featured in Excellence, it may be worth looking up the article? Specifically it was a 964 C4 converted to an RSR 'look' using turbo flares.

I remember one thing though. It said that while on the outside the 964 rear fenders are the same, the buckets for the taillights are entirely different, and I think they had to weld in new taillight receptacles.

You need to redo the entire rocker panel area too. The 964 uses plastic covers for the rockers. Also the front part of the rear fenders is probably different because it has provisions for the plastic rocker panels.

Don't recall if the bumper mounting points are the same or not. There's probably an oil cooler in the front of a 964 that doesn't allow for the early airdam too?

I don't know. Just what I can think of. Good luck!

Take care,

With 965 values continuing to climb, I'm not sure why you just wouldn't sell the 965 and pick up a really nice 930. Granted, the 965 is slightly more comfortable (functioning a/c, power steering) but that comfort comes with a weight penalty.
