Funny, of the cars I looked at, only about 1/2 had the LSD. LSD was a deal breaker for me, more so than sport seats, etc, all things equal.

Its not a dealbreaker for me simply because my pool of available cars given location and price is so small.

This is the sticker I have for the car I am considering:

Thanks Jeff. Strangely the only option code listed on this car is for CA emissions though it has sport seats, headlight washers, rear wiper, sunroof etc.
The headlight washers, rear wiper, and sunroof were all standard equipment so there wouldn't have been option codes for them. There would have been a seperate sunroof delete code if it had been ordered without one, most 930s were pretty loaded this late in the production run.

The heated sport seats should show up with codes for the left and right seat, I suppose a dealer or previous owner could have added them later.

if it's any consolation IME LSD comes hand in hand w/ Sport Seats - er, well... least on the later cars, maybe not so on the early cars?

YMMV? 8-)

while I 100% agree on the need for LSD (makes a humongo DIFFerence in any car, if you 'drive' your cars)... I hear you on your sampleset being so small that yous gots to do what yous gots to do

Hope it werks out for you... exciting!

Yeah, the seats must have been added. Looks like the car was loved at sometime in its past given the wheels and exhaust mods.

I will have to wait to find out if the CA smog stuff is still on the car. I assume if it is then its costing some HP.

I dont know how you guys put up with waiting on the PPI.

An LSD can be easily added later as well.

+1 to what Chris says. If you find a nice 930 you want that doesn't have LSD, you can add it later. Probably $3-5K dependent on what you want to do when you get the box open and $ per hour rate.

Usually wait till it's in my possession, but should be here on Tuesday.
Having it shipped right to my guy to go thru it, I never totally trust long distance inspections.

Went and checked on the car while the PPI was being done (still waiting on the actual report).

I didnt really see much. Car was relatively dry underneath compared to the 3 or 4 other cars I have seen.

It was a little wet around the case seam, its hard to tell if it was coming from above somewhere:

IMG_5507.jpg by thecrashingdoor, on Flickr

It was a little wet on the forward half of the transaxle as well.

IMG_5509.jpg by thecrashingdoor, on Flickr

There was a little leak between the cam tower and cyls on the passenger side.

IMG_5506.jpg by thecrashingdoor, on Flickr

What is however causing a little concern is the line from the turbo which runs around and dumps into the tank looks likes it need replaced (hence the drip you see above). Any estimates on what it costs to do so?

Looks like it's just the oil drain plug leaking, probably didn't change the washer w oil change.
Looks like some minor stuff.

Yeah if you look in the top part of the picture you can see the drip on the line. Talked with John and its not too pricey to just replace.

Here's the rest of the list

No accident damage
O2 sensor unplugged - John says its not a big deal and he prefers to run them this way
Hood secondary latch needs adjustment
Left footwell fan squeaking
Moisture in front and rear turn signal housings
Dome light not working
Driver side seat switch intermittent
CA Smog equipment removed - win
Exhaust leak from header Dr side - John recommended a removal and truing the flange surface or replacement (currently a B&B system, may need to phone our friend Rarlyl8)
Silver ignition coil - John recommended replacement with black
Leak on the turbo return line near the tank
Seepage from cam tower passenger side - recommend clean and observe
Seepage on rear of case - recommend clean and observe
Frt brakes 80%
Rear brakes 20%
Clutch has 1000miles or less on it
Rear struts and frt pass strut new

Comp test was 130-135psi across the board
Leakdown 5%,4%,7%,5%,8%,4%

John also recommended a tune up and valve adjustment since we dont know when it was last done and the plugs are the stock units and a little cold for our environment.

And that was it, what say ye pelicans, clean bill of health?

OH, and the best part, car has a LSD. BTW, John says cars with the LSD from the factory will have a "12" stamped in the transaxle case nearly every time.

sounds excellent all around

that weepage is of no worry, esp the driptank one

front weepage could be from above, typically either a breather or a sender

#s look decent

new clutch 'n struts FTW!

my #1 header flange leaks slightly when cold - goes away once up to temp - if yours does, I'd not bother right now... pulling headers could be huge can 'o studworms >shudders!!!<

which car is this again??? lost track. PICS OR VOTE TO BAN 8-)

congrats!

Dome light not working? Deal breaker. I say pass.

J/K. I like it! Body, interior and motor are good. Minor maintenance items on the list. Some big time parts are replaced already (clutch and struts). Looks like you found a winner!

Congrats and post pics asap!

So I am digging into the seat switch problem. Is this the correct orientation for these switches?

I assume the switches for sport and non-sports are different? Anyone know which part numbers for sure?

There this 4way
928-613-182-00-M56

And this 2way
928-613-181-00-M100

That's as good a ppi as you'll find.
Get it!
Edit, re seats, just like mine, heated sports seats, ftw!
Switches are readily available, 4 different versions as I recall.

Thanks man, at this point if it had wind up headlights I would still take it. The waiting is removing all logic from this purchase.

OOOooo, heated Sport Seats - FTMFW fersure

wish my Sports were heated!

switch should be easy to source from a boneyard from any 911 w/ that option, I don't believe they're Sport specific - just semi-power / heated vs. not (fully power is forward/backward for lower & upper seat as well as the up/down on those shown for the front and rear of the lower cushion)...
