Porsche 930 Turbo Coupe | eBay

Looks cool, love that grey. I have a "no florida cars" rule though.

I'm curious regarding your rule, as some of the nicest 930s on this forum belong to Florida guys.

Honestly that's a great question. Most of my enthusiasts friends have the same rule. We were talking about it a few months ago and we all came back to a story about a guy who bought an E30 M3 and when he flew in to pick it up, well lets just say there were multiple E30s welded together and none of them were owned by the seller.

This was years ago but we all remembered it vividly.

Nowadays i rationalize it by thinking about the climate for cars did not get taken care of by good owners. Salt, humidity, sand, sun.

But your totally right, its a bizarre reluctance. Watching the for sale section one would think that all turbo 911's at least begin their life in Florida.

WOW

Another beauty. I really like that silver on red!

I have a rule about New Jersey Cars. I bought a 1999 S500 Grand Edition Sedan with low mileage sight un-seen from a dealer in Patterson NJ. . Holy crap!! I got ripped off pretty good so I guess the morale of the story is that you have to put eyes on it and even if you think you are an expert, a PPI is pennies on the thousands of dollars!

Good luck with this one!

Looks and sounds like a nice car from the description.
Do the PPI, though.

We waded thru 6 inches of records, the car was a ruf conversion 3.4 twin plug done in nj in 96 (engine to Germany), ff to 2003, I guess the po smoked a piston with the ruf dial of death and he went elsewhere to rebuild, adding a fancy crank trigger ignition.
In person the car is sharp, runs like oem (ruf for ya), it is extremely fast, shifts nice. Needs about a thousand dollars in switches and fuses, etc and a big time detailing. It also needs a trip to the griffiths ac shop. The po spent an astounding 77k in mods start to finish.
I'd like to buy it and return it to its ruf roots. During the rebuild, they discarded a lot of ruf stuff, it still has the ruf notched air box in place, and some ruf gauges.
There was also a receipt for the ruf 5 speed, 12k, never delivered??
My feeling is that after spending a yr plus in the ruf shop, and being bled like George Washington, he'd had enough and just took the car home.
Interesting car with an interesting history.
I'm also looking at another 505 slant black stock, fresh rebuild.
Leaning towards the ruf if the price is right. The slant is about 10k more $.
I am gonna ask Tim or ken to give their opinion as we get closer.

Not too far gone..but it is a 930 with mods..no longer a RUF conversion. The only RUF parts are gauges, notched airbox (I think..it's hard to see) and wheels. Taking the RUF part out of the equation...how much would you be willing to pay for a 930 with the current mods and mileage?

Now missing from the Ruf conversion are:
RUF 5 speed(which you mention)
RUF muffler
RUF front spoiler
RUF front strut brace
RUF dual exhaust
RUF intercooler
RUF brakes(not all conversions bothered with this upgrade)
RUF steering wheel

In the end, if you love the car and must have it..I'd say go for it! For whatever price you feel comfortable with.
