Has anyone ever color dyed a replacement dash?

I need to replace the dash in my 86 930 due to warping. The color is dark brown (leather) and I am afraid it is going to be hard to find the same color.

Has anyone successfully matched a color with a professional dye job?

Or, is it possible to remove the leather cover and put it on a replacement dash?

If you have a leather sample color plus can match it. I've used their stuff on furniture.

Thanks, I decided to go a different route, I found a used dash and I am in the process of purchasing a leather cover from Autos International. I am sending them my ashtray to match the leather that will go on the dash. If all goes as planned, should be pretty straight forward .

Please let us (at least me) know how it goes. This is one of my winder projects. PO died my dash and it doesn't match. Also, it is warped.
