Twin Turbo EFI Conversion(widowmaker): UPDATED VIDS

Just wanted to keep you guys in the loop...couple updates for you. Keep in mind these are really raw with respect to tuning. You're getting too see the ugly stuff lol. We're still making a lot of adjustments with to the the maps and it also looks like the scavenger pump is having trouble keeping up with the twins(smoke), but we'll see. We haven't gotten to the the IAC/cold start stuff yet so stay tuned.

You'll notice in the vids things are getting better, but there's still a long way to go. Between these huge arse cams and the e85, this is gonna take some time. But I have to tell ya, the sound in person is brutal. In the vids we're barely cracking the throttle and it's shaking the room. We're gonna do some more tuning today so stay tuned and enjoy :D

What a machine you got there.

The sound when you crack the throttle is glorious! I have CIS with 964 cams, but I had that same stumble off-idle until I advanced to timing below 1500 rpm to 14 degrees or so. Looks like a lot of love and sweat went into that beauty.

Startup is really tough to get right on EFI in cold weather. I haven't got it perfect yet! Summer is easy.

You know, I had my doubts that you were having oiling issues causing the smoke. I really thought your rings weren't seating. I see now it's either oil smoke or running pig rich.

Good to see no smoke on this later vid. Awesome beast!

What an absolutely stunning car.

mreid 12-07-2013 11:58 AM

That thing is fierce! Congratulations!

Yeah it's gonna be a work in progress. We're still tinkering with the maps as we go and plus it's really cold here on the east coast right now.

flashgordon64 12-07-2013 03:18 PM

Dang it, looks like I posted the same vid twice. So i've gone back and posted the 2nd vid along with some footage of todays tunining session.
Sorry for the confusion

Tippy 12-07-2013 05:12 PM

Yeah, the same. Can't wait for the other.

TurboKraft 12-07-2013 06:58 PM

Congrats! It's sounding better and better.

Unless Precision is flowing more oil through their ball bearing cartridges than Garrett or Turbonetics, a single stock 930 scavenge pump will keep up with twin BB turbos.

mamut 12-08-2013 05:59 AM

The Powertech pump is the one to use for these TT builds, cheers, Stef.

Hams930T 12-08-2013 10:19 AM

The back wheel is boss... What is the diameter and width?

Chris.

flashgordon64 12-08-2013 10:54 AM

Thanks for all of the positives guys

My buddy(engine builder/machinest), builds race engines for some of the 24hr le mans/Sebring guys and has done a few trick things with the engine one being the oil pump(he won't let me divulge his secrets;)). That being said...lets just say I have really healthy oil pressure. That coupled with a couple days of cranking(trying to configure the box - Chris you're aware of what I mean), and with the oil tank not vented we think created a significant oil backup. Now that we've been able to get it running and up to temp, all the excess is starting to burn off.

Stef, an electric pump was the next option

Great Job

Great Job on your build. I like the hard work and effort you put into your car. You have inspired me to start my long time turbo project. Look forward to seeing your next video..

flashgordon64 12-09-2013 04:10 PM

Go for it Jason. Word of caution, the slope is very slipperySmileWavy

Mitch

TurboKraft 12-09-2013 04:13 PM

And there's a lot of people here happy to pour oil on said slope for you to help you on your way. :-)

flashgordon64 12-09-2013 04:31 PM

LOL, Chris you are so right. If only I'd sent my car out to AZ like I should've, my slope would have been much less slippery:rolleyes:

Chris about to shoot you a pm

totle 12-09-2013 04:49 PM

Thanks for the update :-)
Great machine :-)

sheriong 12-12-2013 08:11 PM

What are the plans for tuning? Nice throaty grunt.
Good Luck!

flashgordon64 12-13-2013 03:00 PM

My guy is getting it dialed in as we speak. As soon as that's done then it's off to the dyno;)
