I use Clewett plug wires with good results. Have used them on both 3.2 Carrera and 3.3 Turbo. I used Bosch plugs and now am using NGK I think. I run a cooler heat range than stock since I am running with EFI and have timing advanced with a higher boost range.

Got an unused pair of Magnecor from Clewett like the ones below. Ended up with a completely different setup. Went with crank fired kit and wires included there.

NIB
911 1965-83, 914-6 & 930 Turbo 1984-89 [9191-08] - $215.00 : Clewett Engineering, The complete solution for ignition & fuel injection

Yours for $120 + shipping if you want. Just didn`t get around to sell them yet. Got a MSD 6425 + coil too.

Let me know if interested

I'll look and see if we still have a set of take-off Magnecore wires. If so, they're yours for cheap.
We don't use them.

We prefer factory spark plug connectors, and OEM wire -- perfect fit, consistent resistance, reliable. When the wires need replacing due to age & heat, the boots are almost always reusable -- just replace the wires themselves.

More than once we've had to shave the tip of the Magnecore silicone spark plug boots to get them to fit properly into a 911/930 cylinder head. They were too large an OD and got caught up on the fins before fully seating on the spark plugs.
Add to that getting custom ones for a 3.6T only to have their boots be too long and not come out of the valve cover with the engine in the car, hitting the rear frame rails... and being told something to the equivalent of "gee that's too bad..."
Just not impressed.

Beru was was the supplier to Porsche in those years, and we use their products, never had a problem.

Just $0.02 from the peanut gallery.

Factory wires are awesome... Unless you ditch the dizzy. Then what wires do you use? And where can you get just the coil boots to change over the stock dizzy connectors?

When we eliminate the distributor and use coil packs:
- OEM (Beru) coil connectors -- in this case, for a Bosch 3x2 coil pack
- OEM (Beru) wire -- we buy the same stuff as factory in a bulk spool
- original spark plug connectors

PM me, let me know what is the original application of the coil is for which you want a coil boot/connector, ex: GM LS coil, Mitsu wasted spark coil, Mercedes coil pack, etc.

Very interesting! Does TK sell the parts or would you be willing to point us to a supplier for the Beru stuff?

You can also order any Beru part online at BERUPARTS.COM.

The original braided stainless steel wiring on all 930's is Beru. It is different from modern spark plug wires in three important ways:

1. It has a solid copper core, surrounded by PVC insulation.
2. It has resistors built into the connector to control RF interference, and is intended for use with
non-resistor spark plugs.
3. It relies on the grounded, braided stainless steel sheath for EMI reduction.

Beru, along with the rest of the industry, also produced a wound wire, ferric conductor wire with silicon insulation. This type of wire does not use resistors in the spark plug connector, and is intended for use with resistor-type spark plugs. Almost all other wires (Clewett, Magnacore, NGK) are similar to this construction. The only difference is in the quality of the connectors. I think both Beru and NGK have very good connectors.

I have stuck with the original braided, solid core wires because I like the Bosch W3DPO plugs. A CDI system, stock or not, likes low resistance plugs and wires.
