Thank you again for all the kind words

Looking forward to digging in and refreshing this car.

I'll definitely take into account all the recommendations to not fully repaint this car. After I finished a major service, I'll take it to a reputable paint shop in the Bay Area to see what they can do about the paint. There are areas where the paint has significantly been buffed through and the primer is showing. There is a quarter sized paint webbing/crack on the engine lid as well, which my guess is a result of the lid shocks being blown. It is very very minimal, and I assume this is something that can be fixed by re-laying new fiberglass? As for the paint - Not sure if it is worth blending the paint on a car where 5-6 body panels have fading/primer showing.

Congrats, that was a deal of a life time. I picked a 77 myself a few months ago and I am totally smitten.
Enjoy!

wonderful car

great deal. i follow this story for weeks now. and i am happy for you it worked out. some of this deals end up in depression. bought a 300sl gilwing in the late 80tis. made a downpayment, drove away to pick up cash, and when recieved back an hour later it was gone. the factory picked it up in a trailer. i got the downpayment back. price was about 50k for the whole car. there was other deals like this that never completed.

but i got my 964 turbo (64k miles, one owner) at 22k 5 years ago. my vw 1957 convertible for about 900$, etc.
my brother in law bought a capri rs ( first production year ) for about 320 $ last year. nearly complete, injection missing, everything else there and untouched...!

so the deals are out there. keep your eyes open and jump on it if one pops up.
