New 930 owner intro
Hey guys, thought that I'd introduce myself over here on the Turbo Forum.
I've been on Pelican for over a year now while owning an 1989 911 Silver Anniv Carrera coupe. I recently sold the Carrera and joined the turbo gang! 1981 930 with some Protomotive engine mods and 5 speed G50 trans. Not sure of the exact color name / #, but I think it is either Black Metallic or maybe Graphite Metallic ( I can't find any paint codes). I bought the car from a fellow Pelican in NJ who then bought my Carrera a couple of weeks later! I guess it was meant to be... The weather is crappy here in VA currently, so I'm doing a few little tidying jobs on the car before blast off in the Spring... can't wait! Look forward to being part of this great forum. Cheers. Looks beautiful. I love the wheels. Congrats and welcome.

Might be Schwartz metallic, need to see some more pics. Congrats!
|
Looks great!!

Thanks TT Gasman.
Here are the only other photos of the car I have currently.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1389500173.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1389500210.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1389500250.jpg |
Hi Iain,
Funny I just bought a black 85 which could be your car's twin! What wheels, tires and size are they? Looks perfect tome. My car is still in Leesburg, Va with the owner until the weather snaps. I was looking for a non turbo but this was a good deal and I knew the owner. How do they compare to drive? Fun factor? C |
Yep that looks just like my old car Schwartz metallic and no sunroof!
|
Carbster09,
The wheels are 18" Speedline Corse's. Tires: front 235/40, back 295/35 Also just put some 15mm H&R spacers on the front (not in photos). Now it's perfect. Early driving impressions are that it feels the same as my old Carrera until 4K then hang on! Surge begins and keeps going... big smiles! Pretty wild... Leesburg is 45 mins north from here. Enjoy your new car too! Cheers. Iain |
Looking good. I find driving these cars on nice winter days the most fun. Less cars on the road, less pollen, cooler air for the turbo. JMHO

Hi Iain
I too live in Charlottesville, and have a black 86 930. My next door neighbor has a black 87 930. See you around, possibly Richmond C&C. SR |
congrats / welcome / enjoy!
love that color! A lot of grey (well 2 this week) and various blue examples surfacing lately sounds / looks like some tasty mods, vaaarry niiiice I picked up that RF corner scoop to mount, seeing it on yours motivates me to get off me arse and get it on there looks like PO chewed up the lower valance pretty good - be sure to park shallow and enter @ angles 8-) Always dug those Silver Anniv Coupes - neat car. This is a perfect upgrade... |
Welcome. nice looking car.
|
SR,
Sounds like you live in a very cool neighborhood! It's good to know there are a couple more 930s in town... looking forward to meeting up one day. The local PCA have a monthly Sunday lunchtime, get-together called Porsches & Pastrami at Durty Nelly's in town... It's a relaxed good time and another local guy shows up in one of his two 930s. Cheers, Iain |
Welcome. Looks like a nice example. Interesting that it has the non euro bumperettes.
|
Welcome lain to the unique world 930 ownership !
Could your color also be called anthracite? I think the rear DOT / US rear bumperettes could have been installed by the first importer. Do you plan to replace the rear window wiper ? Awesome looking 930 ! Porsches + Pastrami sounds tasty, here is a pic of our Hollywood Cars Coffee+ Grill Martyhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1389550202.jpg |
Color looks exactly like my `80 ... Schwartz Metallic, as noted above.
Occasionally I'll start thinking it's kind of a boring color, then I'll take it out in public and someone will invariably tell me what I great color it is. Then, of course, I'm back in love. |
Thanks nkowi, after looking at the picture of your car in your 'garage' it sure does look like Scwartz Metallic as you and TT Gasman said.
Our cars look alike! Cheers, Iain |
Maltese Falcon,
Thanks for posting the pic of your C&C in Hollywood... looks very cool. Lots of 914s ! As for re-fitting my rear window wiper - I don't think that I'll bother. I had one on my 89 Carrera and never once used it... Thanks again for the welcome. Iain |
Nice!
Let's see that engine! |
Welcome. Nice looking 930.
