One 930 two VIN

What are the implications when a 930 has two VINS? One VIN is on the drivers door sill and shows the 930 to be a car made for the U.S. The other Vin is in the front luggage compartment and is a European VIN. The car is a 86 930.

No implications here in British Columbia, Canada. The VIN on the registration forum matches the one on the windshield pillar, I did see the one in the front near the smugglers box WP0ZZZ, had me going for awhile as well. I guess on the grey market cars they assigned a new VIN when the cars were exported to Canada or the USA. I think mine is WP0JA

Somebody on this board explained this a while back, but I can't remember who. Perhaps they will pipe up again.

It is normal for the ViN number on the A pillar tag and the other ID number stamped into the sheet metal next to the smugglers box to be different. That had me worried big time until I was told that's normal.

The number tag on the A pillar is the VIN number on your title. I think the other one is some kind of factory assembly number while it was just a bare unibody chassis before it was assembled into a car.

If its only the "ZZZ" portion that its different (position 3, 4 & 5), it came of the assembly line like that.

Back then all the body had "ZZZ" has they were not specifficaly designated to go to the North America market.

That being said, it might be a bit hard to register in some jurisdiction as they are not aware of this.
