Out of the Lurk

Maybe the emotional field around Mark's car/situation called me out. Great stuff!
Been sort of lurking for quite some time while I nibble away on my 86.
Anyway bought this 86 a year or two ago (time is blurr). Loved the colors and originality. Drove it ooohh ten minutes or so after delivery before the fuel sender/gauge miscalibration left me by the side of road. After an hour or so of deliberations borrowed some lawn mower gas from a neighboring farmer and back home we go. One thing led to another hundred things and now getting ready to engine and trans seal refresh spruce up as the last chapters. The accomplishments so far range from sunroof to floor pan, to repaint/rebuild front bumper to rebuild rear bumper to seat leather and wheel (steering and rolling) restoration and, and, and... Engine and trans last. Sort of a restoration, repair, reincarnation.
Pro and domestic life leaves me very little time to devote.
This site has been invaluable. Great group as the Marky Mark episode is clearly articulating.
The belated obligatory photo of the first arrival.

Looking Forward and
Continued Success to All,

Gary Siemion

Aaaannnd now,

Prussian Blue. Incredibaly hard to match. Was very fortunate to actually find an originally issued from Porsche quart of Prussian Blue.
Anybody have input around "the" Porsche machine shop for engine work in the Pacific Northwest?

Must be the photos, looks just like my marine blue.
As for engine work John Walker is the man. His shop is in Seattle on Greenwood Ave.
I think 90th is the cross street.

Something about these cars that makes us want to take them apart. Nice car.

Gary:

Great to have you posting.

Beautiful 930 you have there.

Sharing what your doing on the car is part of the love affair,
and the weirdo's here will help to keep you going.

I started my project 12-13 years ago. And I really did have
times I didn't think it would ever be done.

The secret is always remember Grandpa Cole's first rule.

Welcome out of the Lurk and into the open! Nice specimen you have there. I've pretty much given up on finding a 930 myself, but I do enjoy reading about them.

Welcome aboard, Gary. As Cole said, there are a lot of fanatatical weirdos here that would love to be of assistance...myself included!
Bet it was hard beginning the tear-down after first spending some quality time behind the wheel. Hopefully you can get her back on the road in a fraction of the time that "the old one" has had his down for (it will be worth it, though, when he posts live action videos after the spring thaw).

Congrats on the lucky find for OEM paint. I once did a nation wide search for paint for my '92 Harley. With the help of a local dealer and their computerized parts network, he gave me contact info for all the shops in the US that showed the specific paint still in inventory. There were only a few quarts nation wide; snarf up what you can get when you can get it.

heh - good one!

Gorgeous car Gary, as I've noted 10000x before... that blue is one of my faves. Stellar color.

Good luck w/ the refresh, looking forward to the results.

Oh, and - welcome!
